HOTD: Audi R8 Donuts

This video features a Russian Audi R8 doing donuts on a public street in the middle of the day, this is what hooning is all about. The only downside is that the streets are wet, but it's still good.

Hoon How To: Burnouts

First of all, I take no responsibility for your actions after reading this article. There are many considerations to keep in mind when thinking about doing a burnout such as location, purpose, and safety. The burnout was originated as a way for drag racers to warm up and clean off their tires prior to racing, but soon turned into a fun activity off the track. There are many different ways to do burnouts but I'll just describe a few.

What you'll need:
1. An automobile(we'll cover motorcycle burnouts later) with enough power to peel out(stomping and the gas and the tires squeal.)
2. A good place to do a burnout, preferably away from other people. You can do a burnout on almost any surface, even dirt, but try to stick to a paved surface.(Railroad crossings work well but can start fires, so don't do it.)
3. Common knowledge on how cars work and how to control them.
4. Common sense, don't be stupid and hurt yourself or others, or your vehicle.
Remember!! This is a dangerous activity and should only be performed by an experienced driver in a safe area.

Heres how: rear wheel drive with an auto:
1. Stomp on the brakes
2. Stomp on the gas
3. Once your happy with what you've done, let off the gas

I will cover fwd, awds, and manual vehicles in another post. I will also include some tips and tricks and some good visual teaching aids. Have fun and be safe.

HOTD: El Camino

This is a great video featuring an 80’s El Camino roasting his tires until they pop.

Question of the week

My question of the week for you all is, what is your definition of a hoon?

HOTD: All American Power

This is the first hoon of the day video. It features burnouts by a Ford GT, GT500, Z06, Viper, and an old Superbird. Great video with great burnouts, enjoy.

My Inspiration

I was first inspired to make this site after reading the jalopnik blog for some time. After seeing a certain image, I knew what I had to do, make my own blog. Here is the picture and story that inspired me to make this site:

This picture made feel proud to be a hoon, it embodies the greatness we all strive to achieve. The article has too many perfect phrases for me to tell you all of them, you’ll just have to read it for yourself at the link above and let me know what you think.

Also here is the follow up story: http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/truk01.shtml

Welcome one and all

The term “Hoon” was first used in Australia at the turn of the 20th century where it referred to a man living off immoral earnings . (i.e. a pimp). Hoon was first used with its current meaning (as a shortened form of “Hooligan” ) by Ian “Molly” Meldrum during an interview with Brian Mannix on the tv program Countdown in 1985. Over the past two decades it has achieved wide use to describe any young male or female who drives in a manner which is anti-social towards the standards of modern day society. Generally, a hoon is any person who drives any vehicle dangerously and/or fast. That is the wikipedia definition. I disagree with the dangerous and fast part, you don’t even have to move to hoon your vehicle.

In this site I will discuss all forms of hooning, from cars and trucks to motorcycles and boats. Maybe even planes will be covered. I will feature videos and photos of hoons doing what hoons naturally do. I will also review new and old cars alike and rate their hoonability. Their are many features planned that I will not go into detail until l later date. Hopefully I’ll post multiple times a day and get good feedback, let me know what you think.
